Before family football players are fully ready for official play they should play intermediate football. It’s less strenuous and personal demanding than official play. Also, its game football is shorter at 10 inches in length and is designed to suit the younger, less experienced player. Intermediate football players are typically ages 9 to 10 years.
The intermediate football is available as either a rubber football or a composite football. There is no leather intermediate football. Intermediate footballs are manufactured by Champion, Olympia, Mikasa, and Baden. There is a Rawlings football for youth that is a composite and suitable for junior or intermediate football play. All other football equipment like ball pumps, pressure gauges, inflating needles, and ball repair kits are identical to those used for official football. Also, the nylon ball bag can be used by intermediate players and is the same as the ones used for official football.Intermediate and junior football players have footballs designed especially for them. They are slightly smaller than official footballs. As such, these smaller footballs let the younger players get a good “feel” of a football game before moving up to official football play.
