A family football game plays only as well as the equipment that supports it. This article looks at how best to maintain all equipment associated with family football. This includes official footballs, air pumps, pressure gauges, inflating needles, ball repair kits and tote bags.
As the most important piece of family football equipment, official footballs need special care. They can be one of three types – rubber football, composite football or leather football. But they all require identical care. They should be kept clean, unscarred and properly inflated. A minimum of three footballs is recommended for every game. Many family football teams play with an official NFL football, like the Spalding football. These are made of top grain leather and require especially good care.
All the other football support equipment should be kept in A-1 condition too. Air pumps should be kept clean, well lubricated and tested regularly for accuracy. The same maintenance regimen is also required for pressure gauges. Inflating needles should be kept clean and undamaged. Ball repair kits should be in top notch working order and be well supplied with patching adhesive. Tote bags should be maintained without tears and with their draw strings working properly.
By following these simple equipment maintenance rules, family football games can focus solely on having football fun. This is as it should be!
