The 2009-2010 professional football season is just about over. The only game that remains is the Super Bowl to be played in Miami on February 7. It pits the AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts against the NFC Champions (and the first time Super Bowlers) New Orleans Saints. This should be a great game because both teams have excellent won-loss records and led their respective conferences. This article will look at both teams and attempt to select a winner. How these teams play will provide valuable insight to family footballers. It will also review the value of good football equipment.

The Indianapolis Colts have an envious record. They won 14 straight games and ended their season with 16 wins. They have the premier NFL quarterback in Peyton Manning and so play primarily a passing game. They also have a balanced running attack and are very aggressive on defense. They did very well in the playoffs and showed their poise and professionalism by a come from behind victory over the New York Jets. In almost every game the Cots have been dominant and have consistently showed their ability to take the lead and keep it. Their game with the Jets was a classic. They let the Jets take a 17 to 6 lead towards the end of the first half. Then it was all Indianapolis in the second half and they ended up winning 30 to 17. This team will be very tough to beat in the Super Bowl.

The New Orleans Saints have also played very well all season. Yes, they have been pushed from time to time but their will to win under all circumstances has usually made their day. This was particularly obvious in their NFC Championship game with the Minnesota Vikings. In this game the Vikings, led by Brett Favre, rolled up over 500 yards of total offense. But in the end this was not enough to beat the Saints. This Cinderella team beat all the odds and played to win. They accomplished this with an overtime field goal to take the game 31 to 28 and send the defeated Vikings back to Minnesota. The Saints have displayed this will to win in game after game. It’s this commitment to winning against all odds that has propelled them to the Super Bowl.

So who will win the 44th Super Bowl? The Colts appear to be the better team but the Saints have an unknown something going for them. It is a hard one to call but experience should favor the Colts. Let’s wait and see!

As usual, good equipment is required. This includes an official football, quality accessories and a sturdy tote bag. The best football by far is the official NFL football covered in top grain leather. It will be used in the Super Bowl game as it has in the pro games all season. It can be a Rawlings football or a Spalding football. But it will most likely be a Wilson football. Another fine football is the leather and rubber composite football. It can be an Olympia football or a Rawlings football. The least playable and least expensive is the rubber football. Favored by casual players, it can be a Baden football, a Champion football, a Mikasa football or an Olympia football.

Good accessories like a football pump, pressure gauge, inflating needles and a football repair kit are always needed. The ball pump can be a hand operated air pump or a foot pump.

Another useful accessory is the ball tote or ball bag. It is made of nylon mesh, comes in a variety of colors and has a nylon draw string. This nylon ball bag or ball tote can carry up to 10 footballs. It is used to carry football equipment to and from games and to protect unused equipment from theft at these games.

The Super Bowl winner is anyone’s guess right now. However, based on statistics and team records the Indianapolis Colts should win. Regardless, this game will provide thrills for all observers and a good learning experience for family footballers.
